University Resources
Students are encouraged to utilize the following resources:
Academic Support
Academic Support at Willamette is more than just a resource - it's a gateway to developing essential skills like time management and effective study strategies. We provide a support network designed to keep students on track toward their educational goals. Our approach is all about students—their strengths, their learning styles, and what works best for them. We believe that developing strong study habits and finding the right tools can make a big difference in students' success. In Salem, the Academic Success Center includes resources such as the Think Tank, Study Groups, Skills Check, Embedded Tutors, and Subject Tutors. In Portland, this includes the Academic Support Center (Writing Coaches, Academic Tutoring) and the Health and Wellness Coach.
Accessible Education Services (AES)
Accessible Education Services (AES) is here to facilitate the accommodation request process and provide comprehensive support for students with disabilities. We honor disability as an essential aspect of human diversity and are committed to fostering social justice through our learning models. Our goal is to create an environment where every student can thrive. AES determines student eligibility for academic and non-academic accommodations. Beyond accommodations, AES collaborates with stakeholders across the university to support disability inclusion.
Arts at Willamette
At Willamette, we not only nurture the talented artists among our student body, we share our enthusiasm with the community — showcasing inspirational performers, orators and artists from around the globe. We serve as a magnet to Willamette Valley’s art scene by hosting hundreds of free or low-cost concerts, plays, readings, films and festivals every year. PNCA’s Contemporary Arts & Culture in Portland presents free lectures, workshops and exhibits, including more than 20 student-led exhibits annually. We have an art museum, the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, and the Pacific Northwest College of Art Collection..
Athletics
As a member of the NCAA Division III, Willamette offers opportunities for intercollegiate competition in the following sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, triathlon, and volleyball. Health Services
Health services is physically located on the Salem campus, though students on all campuses can access services in person or via telehealth. Students can schedule appointments to see our medical staff for a similar range of illnesses and injuries for which they would see their community provider. The nurse practitioner is licensed to diagnose and manage acute episodic and chronic illnesses, treat injuries, prescribe some medications, and order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests.
Counseling Services
Counseling Services are physically located on the Salem and PNCA campuses, and they are accessible to students on all campuses in person or via telehealth. The counseling staff is skilled in providing short-term counseling services for students experiencing a range of concerns such as stress, anxiety, academic difficulties, identity formation, depression, problem solving, relationship concerns, college adjustment, values clarification, and family conflict, among others. Because the center provides short-term counseling services, referrals to off-campus counseling resources will be provided as needed.
In addition to the counseling services provided on the Salem and PNCA campuses, Willamette University has partnered with Uwill, an independent student mental health and wellness solution offering access to telehealth counseling. In addition to and separate from counseling offered through Counseling Services, students have an immediate, secure, and convenient way to receive additional online-based counseling services should the need arise.
